Lodestar — lodestarjobsearch.io
Effective: August 3, 2026 Last updated: August 3, 2026
Lodestar is operated by Silver Lining Technologies, Inc., a Texas corporation (“Lodestar,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect, what we do with it, who else touches it, and what you can do about it.
We’ve written it to be read, not to be survived. If something here is unclear, email us at info@silverlining.tech.
Who can use Lodestar. Lodestar is currently available to users in the United States who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
1. The short version
We collect your résumé, the profile we parse from it, your job preferences, and your email address.
We use that information to find jobs, assess your fit honestly, discover a relevant contact at the hiring company, and draft outreach documents for you to review and send.
Your résumé and profile content are never used to train AI models — ours or anyone else’s.
We never send email to anyone on your behalf. You send from your own mailbox.
We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t run advertising trackers.
You can export your data or delete your account from inside the app at any time.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
Your résumé. The file you upload, retained in its original form.
Your parsed profile. The structured information we extract from your résumé — work history, titles, dates, skills, education, and similar professional details.
Your job preferences. Titles, locations, seniority, compensation expectations, work arrangement, and other criteria you set.
Your email address, and account credentials.
Anything you write to us — support emails, feedback.
Information we generate
Fit assessments, rankings, and the reasoning behind them.
Drafted outreach documents and application materials.
Records of the jobs you pursue and the contacts surfaced for those pursuits (see Section 6).
Information collected automatically
Basic product usage — features used, actions taken, timestamps — used to operate and improve the service.
Standard technical data associated with your requests, such as IP address and browser type, used for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.
On our marketing website, cookieless analytics (Section 8).
Payment information. When paid plans become available, payments will be processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and handles your card details directly. We never see or store your full payment card number.
3. How we use it
We use your information to:
Parse your résumé into a working profile.
Find and rank job opportunities against that profile.
Give you honest, decomposed feedback on your fit for a role — including where you fall short.
Discover a relevant professional contact at the hiring organization.
Draft outreach and application documents for you to review, edit, and send yourself.
Send you the emails described in Section 5.
Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the product.
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build profiles about you for any purpose other than running the product you asked us to run.
4. AI processing — and what never happens to your résumé
Lodestar uses AI to parse your résumé, rank and assess jobs, and draft documents. This is the core of the product, so here is exactly how it works.
Your résumé and profile content are never used to train AI models — ours or anyone else’s. AI processing runs on Amazon Bedrock, which does not store your content, share it with model providers, or use it for training, and we have additionally opted out of all AWS AI service-improvement data use across our account.
Your résumé content never leaves our AWS environment to any third-party service. The outside services we rely on receive narrowly scoped inputs and nothing more:
Our job-data provider (TheirStack) receives search criteria.
Our contact-discovery provider (Apollo.io) receives only a company domain and role filters.
Our email-verification provider (MillionVerifier) receives only a discovered contact’s email address.
No analytics tool ever sees résumé or profile content.
5. Emails we send
Daily digest. Job matches and pursuit activity. Every digest includes one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
Transactional and account emails. Account confirmation, password resets, security notices, export-ready notifications, billing receipts (when paid plans exist), and service announcements. These are necessary to operate your account and are not subject to marketing unsubscribe, though you can end them by deleting your account.
Product and account emails — including the daily digest — are delivered by Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES) from within our AWS environment. Waitlist and marketing emails are delivered by Loops, which processes your email address solely to deliver our messages.
We never send email to a discovered contact on your behalf. Lodestar drafts; you send, from your own mailbox, under your own name.
6. Information about third-party contacts
To help you reach a real human rather than an applicant-tracking void, Lodestar surfaces professional contact information for people at hiring organizations. Because this is information about people who are not our users, we want to be direct about where it comes from and what we hold.
Where it comes from. This information is aggregated business contact data obtained from our contact-discovery provider, Apollo.io, which compiles it from publicly available professional sources. We do not collect it from the individuals themselves, and we are not the origin of this data.
What we store. For a given pursuit, we store the candidate contacts we evaluate along with our internal ranking and outcome. For contacts we actually surface to you, we store: name, professional title, LinkedIn profile URL, email address, and verification metadata.
Phone numbers are never stored or displayed. Our systems have no field for them.
How it’s scoped. Contact records are attached to a single pursuit — one user pursuing one specific job. There is no shared or company-keyed contact database. If two users pursue the same company, each triggers independent discovery and each owns independent records. Contact records are deleted in full when you delete your account.
Verification. Discovered addresses are checked via an EU-based verification service (MillionVerifier) that does not retain them.
We never contact these individuals. Lodestar sends no email to a discovered contact, ever. Any outreach comes from the user, from the user’s own mailbox.
If you are a contact and have questions. We accept and process inquiries about contact information at info@silverlining.tech. Because this information originates with third-party data providers and public professional sources rather than with us, requests to be removed from the underlying data set need to be directed to those sources — most directly to Apollo.io, whose privacy and opt-out processes are published on their website.
7. Where your data lives and how it’s protected
Your data is stored in Amazon Web Services data centers in the United States. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Access is limited to what’s necessary to operate the service.
No system is perfectly secure, and we won’t claim otherwise. We use industry-standard controls appropriate to the sensitivity of the information involved.
8. Analytics and cookies
Our website uses cookieless, privacy-preserving analytics (PostHog). We do not use advertising trackers or cross-site tracking, and nothing is stored on your device.
If we ever change how analytics work in a way that stores information on your device, we will update this policy and provide the appropriate consent controls before doing so.
9. We don’t sell your personal information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the past 12 months.
We share information only with the service providers described in this policy, who process it on our behalf under contract and may not use it for their own purposes — and where required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
If Lodestar is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, we will notify you before your information is transferred and before it becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
10. Your rights and controls
Export. You can export your data from inside the app at any time. We generate a zip archive containing your information, available for download for 7 days.
Deletion. You can delete your account from inside the app at any time. Deletion is complete: your résumé, parsed profile, preferences, pursuits, contact records, and drafted documents are removed. The only things that survive are de-identified usage totals that cannot be linked back to you, and a 30-day anti-abuse marker that prevents immediate re-registration abuse.
Cancelling a paid plan is not the same as deleting your account. If you cancel a subscription, your account continues on the free plan and your data stays. Deletion is a separate, deliberate action you take in the app.
Correction and access. You can view and correct your profile in the app. If you need something we don’t expose directly, email us.
California residents. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request a copy, to request deletion, to request correction, and to opt out of sale or sharing (we do neither). You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Exercise them through the in-app export and deletion tools, or by emailing info@silverlining.tech. We will verify requests through the email address associated with your account.
11. How long we keep things
Active accounts. We retain your information for as long as your account is active, on any plan, free or paid. Job searches are episodic — people come back years later — and we keep your profile so you can pick up where you left off.
Dormant accounts. If an account has no activity for 24 months, we email you at least 30 days before deletion, giving you the chance to sign in and keep your data or export it. If the account remains dormant, we delete it on the same terms as user-initiated deletion described above.
Billing records. When paid plans exist, transaction and billing records are retained for approximately seven years to meet tax and accounting requirements. These records contain transaction metadata, not résumé or profile content.
Backups. Deleted data may persist briefly in encrypted backups before being overwritten in the ordinary course.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the date at the top of this page before the changes take effect. Continued use after that means you accept the updated policy.
